Our Technology Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center

There are different methods for hair reduction, you may have heard of Pulsed Light (IPL) or Diode (which is a simulation or copy of the laser created by electronic components called diodes), which although they manage to reduce hair do not achieve the results that pure laser achieves.
Pure laser continues to be the most effective and safest method for permanent hair removal, however there are different types of lasers and many manufacturers on the market and as a consumer it can be confusing to select the right technology for your skin and above all to find a reliable hair removal service provider where you are informed in detail the type of technology they will use and why, remember that NOT EVERYTHING IS FOR EVERYONE and there are methods that could be counterproductive for your skin.
The most versatile technology at Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center

That's why in Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center we have the most versatile and FDA-approved technology of the brand Cynosure, this is a U.S. brand with 25 years of presence in the field of aesthetic technology and are recognized worldwide, our Cynosure Elite equipment unlike others has not one but TWO types of Alexandrite and Nd:Yag lasers that to this day are a reference in the market as the best lasers for permanent hair removal.
Each one has specific characteristics that make them more efficient on lighter skin (Alexandrite) or on darker or tanned skin (Nd:Yag). The equipment we use at Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center has two wavelengths and can be used to treat the most difficult cases such as coarse hair, ingrown hair (folliculitis) or excessive hair density and does so without causing damage to the skin.
System that protects your skin

The Cynosure Elite laser that we use at Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center also has other treatments generating collagen stimulation such as facial rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, varicose veins and pigmented lesions removal.
To maximize the comfort of our clients at Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center, the Cynosure Elite laser has a patented intelligent cooling system called SmartCool technology which minimizes any discomfort by cooling the skin before, during and after the treatment by generating very cold air, with this system we protect your skin from any discomfort that the heat of the laser could generate.
Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will be necessary?
It also depends on your follow-up treatment and that each session is carried out at the correct interval according to the number of weeks between each session because if you cancel your sessions this can alter the effectiveness of the treatment.
Are the results really definitive?
The answer is Yes!
But it is important to have realistic expectations and understand how our body works, the laser will DEFINITELY remove the hair but only the hair that is in the ANAGEN phase of growth which is when the hair is growing and is attached to its root, this is very simple because being attached to its root, the energy and heat of the laser can be transported to the root and destroy it permanently, the energy and heat of the laser can be transported to the root and destroy it definitively, if the hair is in another stage of growth such as catagen (transition phase) or telogen (rest period) the hair is not attached to the root and the laser can not reach it to destroy it.
This is why several sessions are needed because at each precise moment we only have a percentage of hair in the anagen stage and this percentage varies depending on the area of the body, in the legs for example we only have 20% of the hairs in this stage so we must let the hair follow its natural growth process so that in each session we remove the active hairs that are in the anagen stage.
Even when removing 100% of the active hair, there is the possibility that there may be "dormant" hair that may awaken due to hormonal changes throughout our lives and this is normal, it is minimal but if it happens we recommend doing touch-up sessions once every time it is necessary.
Can blond, red or gray hair be removed?
Unfortunately no, and there is no technology today that can do it, if someone tells you otherwise, run away!
This is because the laser detects the color of the hair and that is what causes the energy and heat to be focused on that hair and transported to the root to remove it, without color the laser cannot detect or "read" the hair and the treatment is not effective.
That is why we recommend that you have the treatment done before there is gray hair, once the hair is white it can no longer be removed.
How does laser differ from pulsed light and diode?
The main difference is in the efficacy of the treatment, which is why it is very important that you inform yourself about the technology of your hair removal treatment wherever you go.
Pulsed Light or IPL, not to be confused with laser, is more economical and very inaccurate, it does not reach the parameters of effectiveness or safety and hair removal is, in many cases practically null, weakening it, but it comes out again after a few months.
The diode is the most recent technology and because of this has not yet been able to confirm its effectiveness in the long term, this technology arose from the need to create a cheaper solution than the laser, you can find it in many centers as it is cheaper however it is important to emphasize that the diode is a copy or electronic imitation of the original laser, It is a simulation of laser light by means of electronic components called diodes, it tries to treat all types of skin with a single wavelength which makes it less effective especially in thin hair that is more difficult to detect, it is also usually more uncomfortable and even painful.
On the other hand, the pure laser (not the imitation) is much more effective, radically improving the results, both in relation to the destruction of the hair root, as well as in the parameters of safety and speed. It is the most effective known treatment for permanent hair removal. This is because the wavelength (depth of penetration into the skin) must be selected correctly for the type of skin to be treated, remember that NOT EVERYTHING IS FOR EVERYONE and the same wavelength cannot treat all skin types as the diode attempts to do. The laser emits a light that is absorbed by the hair, this light is transformed into energy and heat and is transported to the root of the hair, once it reaches the root this energy produced permanently damages the hair follicle (the root) preventing hair to grow back DEFINITELY and this is achieved without damaging the adjacent tissues.
What kind of technology do you use at Polanco Cosmetic Laser Center?
We use the Elite equipment of Cynosure brand which has 2 types of lasers that are reference in the market for permanent hair removal, these are the Alexandrite laser which has a wavelength of 755 nm and focuses on melanin (the dark color of the hair), it is perfect for fair skin and works very well on thin hair which is the most difficult to remove. The other is the Nd:Yag laser with the longest wavelength of 1065 nm (longer than the diode) and this type of laser is designed especially for darker skin because its wavelength penetrates deeper into the dermis which avoids focusing on the melanin of the skin and eliminates the risk of depigmentation, this laser works very well on dark and thick hair.
